Commissioned by the Northern Virginia Community College Alexandria Band, “Overture to a New Horizon” is an energetic, majestic, and easy listening piece. With soaring melodies to more delicate, lightly orchestrated solo sections, to loud symphonic endings, “Overture to a New Horizon” is a perfect piece depicting the sound of Matt Bandman.

“Overture to a New Horizon” is dedicated to Dr. Lisa Ecksein and to the members of the Northern Virginia Community College Alexandria band for their constant love and support over the years. The title itself, “Overture to a New Horizon” is a symbol of what is to come of Matt's compositional journey and a celebration of the NOVA Alexandria Band for being a huge part in the musical journey.
