Composer Maurice Jarre is father to international synth-pop star Jean-Michel Jarre.

His score for the film Witness offers a soundtrack of various moods and colors. His use of synthesisers appears to be an unusual choice of soundscape for such a film, but it seems to emphasise the otherworldliness of the Amish community. The simple thematic ideas come together in the building sequence, which emphasise feelings of early America and the characteristic spirit of the community.
