The Danzas Españolas (Spanish dances) are divided into four notebooks (three pieces per notebook) The first, which bears the title of Galante, is a kind of bolero which begins in a brilliant and elegant way. Because of its obvious origins, the second is titled Oriental. A virile dynamism, renewed and indicated Energico (with energy), characterizes the Fandango, third of the Danzas Españolas. The fourth, which opens the Second Book, is a unique piano jewel known as Villanesca; of rural origin, it is indicated by Granados as to be played alla pastoral. The fifth, the most famous piece of the entire collection, is a monothematic song and dance, first showing a sadness and languor that later become more dramatic and brilliant. It is more often called Andaluza. The sixth, Rondalla Aragonesa, is an authentic jota includind popular singing.
